The Push for First Place Continues!

Week 4 of the Berks Summer Classic featured another weekend of high-scoring action as the league approaches its halfway point.

New Era Hockey continued its dominant debut season with a 14-3 victory over A. Moyer Masonry. Bray Frick stayed red-hot with an incredible 9-point performance (5 goals, 4 assists), while EJ Mirigliano added 6 points (5 goals, 1 assist) and Austin Mourar chipped in 5 assists. Despite goals from Dan Kasper, Evan Kurtas, and Cody Rotkiske, AMM couldn't slow down New Era's explosive offense.

Defending champion Smokey Bones faced a surprising challenge from Verbero Hockey Co. After falling behind 6-3, Smokey Bones mounted a huge comeback to secure an 11-8 victory. Pete Karpovich led the charge with 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists), while Evan O'Byrne recorded a hat trick for Verbero in the loss.

Saturday night belonged to Seneca Dairy Systems, who cruised past a short-handed Palacios Dentistry squad by a score of 10-1. Travis Alspaugh continued his strong season with 6 points, tallying 2 goals and 4 assists in the win.

Next week marks the halfway point of the 2026 Berks Summer Classic season and features the biggest matchup yet: undefeated New Era Hockey versus undefeated defending champions Smokey Bones! With first place on the line, we'll finally get a clearer picture of who deserves the title of the league's true No. 1 team. While the standings are beginning to take shape, all six teams will qualify for the playoffs, meaning there's still plenty of hockey left to be played.
