Naughty List and New Ridge Brewing Crowned Champions at Inaugural 2025 Berks Christmas Classic
The inaugural 2025 Berks Christmas Classic delivered a full weekend of competitive play, holiday spirit, and memorable moments, setting the tone for what organizers hope will become a staple event on the local hockey calendar.
In the Gold Division, The Naughty List skated their way to a championship finish, closing the tournament with an impressive 4–1 record. Their title run was capped by a thrilling championship matchup against The Polar Dancers. The Naughty List found themselves in an early hole after surrendering two quick goals, but steady play and timely saves from goaltender Chad “Chico” Simmerman kept the game within reach.
As the contest wore on, Simmerman’s key stops proved pivotal while The Polar Dancers began to slow. Capitalizing on the momentum shift, The Naughty List surged offensively and pulled away late, securing a 6–4 victory to claim the Gold Division crown.
Over in the Silver Division, New Ridge Brewing left little doubt about their dominance. The veteran 35+ squad, made up of players very familiar with one another, steamrolled through the division en route to the championship. Their chemistry and experience were on full display throughout the tournament, allowing them to comfortably capture the Silver Division gold medal—followed, fittingly, by a few celebratory beers.
The first-ever Berks Christmas Classic was a resounding success, bringing together competitive hockey, community, and holiday camaraderie. Organizers are already looking ahead.
“We hope to build on this momentum for 2026,” Colby Moyer said. “We encourage players and teams to reach out and let us know how we can make our events bigger and better.”
Next up on the calendar is the 2026 Berks Summer Classic Adult League, scheduled to run from May through July 2026. Teams are encouraged to gather their squads and register now for another season of high-level hockey and great competition.
